Salvador Magluta is a Cuban-American drug trafficker who was a key player in the notorious Miami drug trade during the 1980s. Along with his childhood friend and business partner, Augusto Falcon, Magluta was known as the "Cocaine Cowboys" and was one of the most powerful drug traffickers in Florida.
Magluta and Falcon were involved in smuggling large quantities of cocaine into the United States from Colombia and distributing it throughout Miami. They were known for their extravagant lifestyles, which included expensive cars, luxury homes, and private jets.
In 1991, Magluta and Falcon were indicted on federal drug trafficking charges, but managed to evade capture for several years. They were eventually arrested in 1991 and convicted in 1996 on charges of running a massive drug trafficking operation. Magluta was sentenced to 205 years in prison, which was later reduced to 195 years.
Despite his conviction, Magluta continued to protest his innocence and claimed that he was framed by law enforcement officials. He remains incarcerated in a federal prison, serving out his lengthy sentence. Magluta's story was the subject of the documentary film "Cocaine Cowboys" and has been widely covered in the media.
